Breakdown: Time to kill
13/01/09 || Lord K Philipson
So, this is the band I have to start out reviewing in 2009? A band called Breakdown that’s been on our to-do list for a month or 3… A band that no one on staff seem to wanna touch with a pair of 10 foot poles. And I have to do it becoz most of the staffers around GD think it’s far more important to be full-on slackers? Fuck you, guys. I should fire you all.
Then again, I understand quite well why no one wanted nothing to do with these guys when I now went thru this promo thing to prepare for the review. Why is it that you know the band at hand will suck, all based on their moniker? Yeah. Shut up.
To start off 2009 with some poor man’s thrash metal with a production thinner than staffer Daemonomania’s cock, a drummer as untight as Paris Hilton’s actual asshole and material that in no way can be considered good is not what I wished for. And while I’m at it with the constructive criticism: they must have had UFC fighter Matt Hamill mixing this recording. Yes, Matt Hamill is stone fucken deaf.
As you might have gathered by now, I can’t really find anything good to say about the album at hand (ok, one thing: at times the vocalist sound like Chuck Schuldiner, if you really stretch it) and I believe this is the first and last time we hear from Breakdown here at GD. Believe me, we will all be able to sleep tight anyways.
Not to forget… the always present moniker issue… Out of all the words in this world when you chose what to call yourselves… Was “Breakdown” really the best you could come up with? I don’t think fellow Brazilians Krisiun and Sepultura need to worry about being dethroned any time soon. Oh, and that goes for the music too. Eh…
By the way, Dismember already did that album cover alot better with their “Massive penis capacity” album.
2 out of 10.
